Club Metis Shanghai #9
The Red Brand in action
Discover the new circumstance of brands in China
Club Metis turns over a new leaf.
For the Metis team, fostering exchange and spaces for reflection and enlightenment are something we will always be committed to. In our next Club Metis we would like to dedicate the evening to a discussion around Catherine Becker’s recent book “The Red Brand” and the potential for both domestic and international brands on the Chinese market.
On this evening we’ll put “The Red Brand” in action through a discussion on the subject of homegrown Chinese creativity particularly with regards to the ways in which the domestic digital landscape could (or could not) be seen as a worldwide model for creative engagement and co-construction with consumers will be the next step...
Today is most important era of production and creation in new Chinese brands!
International brands, especially luxury brands, entered into China highlighting values of creativity, innovation, and aspiration, with their Chinese counterparts embodying poor quality, fakes and a lack of creativity. Today however we are perhaps witnessing a real shift from “made in China to “created in China.” What type of creativity are we seeing from Chinese brands now ? And what will we see in the future? How will international brands react within this shift? Who is a threat to who within this new hypothetical paradigm.
Come and join the discussion with Catherine Becker and the Metis team in the presence of a panel of young Chinese fashion and jewelry designers, Clément Buyi Zheng, designer and founder of magazine Fashion, that will share their point of view on homegrown creativity in China.
An event not to be missed for anyone working on Chinese brands with our without international ambitions as well as international brands!
